Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury is authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to George Wells, of Plains, Montana, the sum of $750, and to Mamie H. Wells, of Plains, Montana, the sum of $250, in full satisfaction of their respective claims against the United States for compensation for personal injuries sustained by them when the automobile in which they were riding was struck by a Civilian Conservation Corps truck in the Cape Creek tunnel, Oregon, on November 10, 1940: Provided,That no part of the amounts appropriated in this Act in excess of 10 per centum thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with these claims, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding. Any person violating the provisions of this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved, December 15, 1941. [CHAPTER 578] AN ACT For the relief of John Paul Murray. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, such sum or sums, amounting in the aggregate not to exceed $61.10, as may be required by the Secretary of the Navy to reimburse, under such regulations as he may prescribe, John Paul Murray, seaman, first class, United States Navy, for the value of personal property lost or damaged in the fire in building numbered 49, Barracks "A", United States Naval Training Station, Newport, Rhode Island, on May 14, 1941: Provided, That no part of the amount appropriated in this Act in excess of 10 per centum thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or attorney on account of services rendered in connection with these claims, and the same shall be unlawful, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding.
