Operation of canteens: For all expenses necessary for carrying out the provisions of the Act entitled "An Act to establish and provide for the maintenance and operation of a Veterans' Canteen Service in the Veterans' Administration, and for other purposes" (H. R. 6836 or S. 2354), $4,000,000, which shall be available to provide adequate working capital for each canteen and for the Service as a whole for (a) the acquisition of necessary furniture, furnishings, fixtures, and equipment for the establishment, maintenance, and operation of can- teens, warehouses, and storage depots, (b) for the procurement of merchandise, supplies, and services for sale at canteens at stations of the Veterans' Administration, in accordance with the provisions of the Act, and (c) for the employment of personnel and other expenses necessary for the operation of the canteens: Provided, That the amount appropriated and the proceeds of canteen operations shall be deposited in the Treasury or other depositaries selected by the Administrator in a special account which shall be available for the continued operation of canteens: Provided further, That the avail- ability of this appropriation is contingent upon the enactment of H. R. 6836 orS. 2354. DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA FISCAL SERVICE Collector's office: For an additional amount, fiscal year 1945, for "Collector's office", including the objects specified for this purpose in the District of Columbia Appropriation Act, 1945, $13,463.54. For an additional amount, fiscal year 1947, for "Collector's Office including the objects specified for this purpose in the District of Columbia Appropriation Act, 1947, $136,645.91. REGULATORY AGENCIES Office of Administrator of Rent Control: For an additional amount, fiscal year 1947, for "Office of Administrator of Rent Control", includ- ing the objects specified under this head in the District of Columbia Appropriation Act, 1947, $45,200. CoURTS United States courts: For an additional amount, fiscal year 1945, for the appropriation "United States Courts", $21,944.12.
