July 18, 1946 GENTLEMEN: Delegations representing the Governments of the United States of America, France, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on the one hand (hereinafter referred to as the Allies) and the Government of Sweden on the other hand have met in Washington and exchanged views on questions relative to German interests in Sweden and the elimination of any possible risk of those interests being used to support renewed German aggression. Following this exchange of views, and in reaffirmation of their mutual support of these economic security objectives, the Swedish and Allied Delegations have arrived at the following understanding: 1. (a) The Swedish Government confirms its intention to pursue a program of economic security by the elimination of German interests in Sweden.
