CHAPTER 759 JOINT RESOLUTION

Relating to the continuance on the pay rolls of certain employees in cases of death or resignation of Members of the House of Representatives, Delegates, and Resident Commissioners.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the first section of the joint resolution entitled "Joint resolution relating to the continuance on the pay rolls of certain employees in cases of death or resignation of Members of the House of Representatives, Delegates and Eesident Commissioners", approved August 21, 1935, as amended, is further amended by adding at the end thereof the following: "For the purposes of retirement benefits the period, not exceeding one hundred and ninety days, between the termination of service upon the death or resignation of a Member which occurred after December 4, 1927, and prior to April 24, 1950, and the election of a successor to fill the vacancy, shall be considered as continuous service." SEC. 2. (a) The first paragraph of section 5 of the Act of May 29, 1930, as amended (5 U.S.C. sec. 707), is further amended by inserting after "Columbia Institution for the Deaf" the following: "and or the Pan American Sanitary Bureau". (b) Any service rendered prior to the effective date of this section as an officer or employee of the P a n American Sanitary Bureau shall be considered creditable service for the purposes of section 9 of such Act (5 U.S.C. sec. 736b). SEC. 1415. Foreign credits owed to or owned by the United States Treasury will not be available for expenditure by agencies of the United States after June 30, 1953, except as may be provided for annually in appropriation Acts and provisions for the utilization of such credits for purposes authorized by law are hereby authorized to be included in general appropriation Acts. SEC. 1416. This Act may be cited as the "Supplemental Appropriation Act, 1953". Approved July 15, 1952. Public Law 548

CHAPTER 874

AN ACT To authorize the improvement of Humboldt Bay, California, as recommended by the Chief of Engineers in House Document Numbered 143, Eighty-second Congress, first session.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembledy That the improvement of Humboldt Bay, California, is hereby adopted and authorized to be prosecuted under the direction of the Secretary of the Army and supervision of the Chief of Engineers, in accordance with the plans and subject to the conditions recommended by the Chief of Engineers in House Document Numbered 143, Eighty-second Congress, first session.
