CHAPTER 931

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the first sentence of subsection (a) of section 206 of the Public Health Service Act, as amended (42 U.S.C. sec 207), is amended by inserting after "Deputy Surgeon General" the following: "and the Chief Medical Officer of the United States Coast Guard,". Approved July 17, 1952.

CHAPTER 932

AN ACT To authorize the participation by certain Federal employees, without loss of pay or deduction from annual leave, in funerals for deceased members of the Armed Forces returned to the United States from abroad for burial and relating to the General Counsel of the Department of Commerce. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Act entitled "An Act to grant time to employees in the executive branch of the Government to participate, without loss of pay or deduction from annual leave, in funerals for deceased members of the Armed Forces returned to the United States for burial", approved August 16, 1949, is amended to read as follows: "That employees in the executive branch of the Government who are veterans of any war, campaign, or expedition (for which a campaign badge has been authorized), or members of honors or ceremonial groups of organizations of such veterans may be excused from duty without loss of pay or deduction from their annual leave, for such time as may be necessary, but not in excess of four hours in any one day, to enable them to participate as active pallbearers or as members of firing squads or guards of honor in funeral ceremonies for members of the Armed Forces of the United States whose remains are returned from abroad for final interment in the United States." SEC. 2. The Solicitor of the Department of Commerce shall hereafter be designated as the General Counsel of the Department of Commerce, and all laws and orders relating or referring to the Solicitor of the Department of Commerce shall be deemed to relate or refer to the General Counsel of the Department of Commerce.
