Making^ appropriations for the Legislative Branch for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1960, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and Home of Representatives of the Branch Appropria! United States of America in Congress assembled, That the following tion Act, 1960. sums are appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the Legislative Branch for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1960, namely: SENATE SALARIES OF SENATORS, MILEAGE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE AND OF SENATORS, EXPENSE ALLOWANCE OF THE MAJORITY AND MINORITY LEADERS OF THE SENATE, AND SALARY AND EXPENSE ALLOWANCE OF THE VI C E P R E S I D E N T COMPENSATION O F SENATORS

For compensation of Senators, $2,425,255. MILEAGE OF PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE AND OF SENATORS

For mileage of the President of the Senate and of Senators, $58,370. EXPENSE ALLOWANCE or MAJORITY AND MINORITY LEADERS

For expense allowance of the majority leader and the minority leader of the Senate, $2,000 each; in all, $4,000. COMPENSATION OF THE VICE PRESIDENT or THE UNITED STATES

For the compensation of the Vice President of the United States, $37,695. EXPENSE ALLOWANCE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT

For expense allowance of the Vice President, $10,000. SALARIES, OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES

For compensation of officers, employees, clerks to Senators, and others as authorized by law, including agency contributions as authorized, which shall be paid from this appropriation without regard to the below limitations, as follows: OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT

For clerical assistance to the Vice President, at rates of compensation to be fixed by him in basic multiples of $5 per month, $112,140. CHAPLAIN

Chaplain of the Senate, $5,500. OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY

For Office of the Secretary, $639,140; Provided, That effective July 1, 1959, two additional messengers may be employed at not to exceed $2,040 basic per annum each.
