Stat. 6i4. third Congress, $3,836,000, to be available immediately. noS.^ ^^^^ ^'^ STATEMENTS OF APPROPRIATIONS For the preparation, under the direction of the Committees on Appropriations.of the Senate and House of Representatives, of the statements for the first session of the Eighty-seventh Congress, showing appropriations made, indefinite appropriations, and contracts authorized^ together with a chronological history of the regular appropriation bills as required by law, $8,000^ to be paid to the persons designated by the chairmen of such committees to supervise the work. ARCHITECT OF THE CAPITOL OFFICE OF THE ARCHITECT OF THE CAPITOL SALARIES

For the Architect of the Capitol, Assistant Architect of the Capitol, and Second Assistant Architect of the Capitol, at salary rates of $20,700, $19,000, and $17,500 per annum, respectively, and other personal services at rates of pay provided by law; and the Assistant Architect of the Capitol shall act as Architect of the Capitol during the absence or disability of that official or whenever there is no Architect, and, in case of the absence or disability of the Assistant Architect, the Second Assistant Architect of the Capitol shall so act; $337,700. Appropriations under the control of the Architect of the Capitol shall be available for expenses of travel on official business not to exceed in the aggregate under all funds the sum of $20,000. CONTINGENT EXPENSES

To enable the Architect of the Capitol to make surveys and studies and to meet unforeseen expenses in connection with activities under his care, $50,000. CAPITOL BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS CAPITOL B U I L D I N G S

For necessary expenditures for the Capitol Building and electrical substations of the Senate and House Office Buildings, under the jurisdiction of the Architect of the Capitol, including minor improvements, maintenance, repair, equipment, supplies, material, fuel, oil, waste, and appurtenances; furnishings and office equipment; special and protective clothing for workmen; uniforms or allowances therefor as authorized by the Act of September 1, 1954, as amended (5 U.S.C. 2131); personal and other services; cleaning and repairing works of art, without regard to section 3709 of the Revised Statutes, as 64207 0-62—24
