For expenses necessary for the maintenance and operation of the hospital, including clothing for patients, and cooperation with organizations or individuals in the scientific research into the nature, causes, prevention, and treatment of mental illness, $5,105,000. BUILDINGS AND FACILITIES

For construction, alterations, extension, and equipment, of buildings and facilities on the grounds of the hospital, including preparation of plans and specifications, advertising, and supervision of construction, $575,000, to remain available until expended: Provided, That the unexpended balances of appropriations as of June 30j 1961, heretofore made available for construction, improvement, extension, or equipment of any Saint Elizabeths Hospital facilities, shall be merged with this appropriation.
