SEC. 402. Section 25 of chapter II of the Fire and Casualty Act (i).C. Code, sec. 85-1829) is amended by striking out "$300,000" and inserting in lieu thereof "$600,000".

To amend the Federal Railroad Safety Act of 1970 and other related Acts to authorize additional appropriations, and for other purposes.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That this act may Federal Railbe cited as the "Federal Railroad Safety Authorization Act of 1973'1 road safety A,a. SEC. 2. Section 212 of the Federal Railroad Safety Act of 1970 (45 19°"! " U-S.C. 441) is amended to read as follows: 84 Stat. 977. " SEC. 212. AUTHORIZATION FOR APPROPRIATIONS. "There is authorized to be appropriated to carry out the provisions of this title not to exceed $19,440,000 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1974.". SEC. 3. Section 303 of the Hazardous Materials Transportation Con- Hazardous matrol Act of 1970 (49 U.S.C. 1762) is amended to read as follows: '^"^^^ control. " SEC. 303. AUTHORIZATION FOR APPROPRIATIONS. "There is authorized to be appropriated to carry out the provisions of this title not to exceed $1,200,000 for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1974.". SEC. 4. The Secretary of Transportation shall, within ninety days Report to conafter the date of enactment of this Act, submit a report to the Congress ^'•^^^* which contains a complete evaluation of all programs conducted under the Hazardous Materials Transportation Control Act of 1970, and on proposed revised handling procedures and feasibility of alternative routing in order to avoid population centers.
