To fix the annual rates of pay for the Architect of the Capitol and the Assistant Architect of the Capitol.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That notwithstanding any other provision of law— (1) the compensation of the Architect of the Capitol shall be at an annual rate which is equal to the annual rate of basic pay payable for positions at level III of the Executive Schedule under section 5314 of title 5, United States Code, and (2) the compensation of the Assistant Architect of the Capitol shall be at an annual rate which is equal to the annual rate of basic pay payable for level IV of the Executive Schedule under section 5315 of title 5, United States Code, SEC. 2. The provisions of this Act shall take effect on the first day of the first applicable pay period commencing on or after the date of the enactment of this Act. Approved December 14, 1979.
