PUBLIC LAW 97-272—SEPT. 30, 1982 SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES OVERSEAS (SPECIAL FOREIGN CURRENCY PROGRAM)

For payments in foreign currencies which the Treasury Department determines to be excess to the normal requirements of the United States, for scientific activities, as authorized by law, $2,200,000, to remain available until September 30, 1984: Provided, That this appropriation shall be available in addition to other appropriations to the National Science Foundation, for payments in the foregoing currencies. NEIGHBORHOOD REINVESTMENT CORPORATION PAYMENT TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD REINVESTMENT CORPORATION

For payment to the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation for use in neighborhood reinvestment activities, as authorized by the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation Act (42 U.S.C. 8101-8107), $15,512,000: Provided, That notwithstanding any other provisions of this or any other Act, the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, the Federal Home Loan Bank Board and the Federal Home Loan Banks, the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and the Federal Reserve Banks, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Comptroller of the Currency, and the National Credit Union Administration or any other department, agency or other instrumentality of the Federal Government may provide to the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation such funds, services, and facilities as they deem appropriate, with or without reimbursement, to achieve the objectives and to carry out the purposes of the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation Act, with the prior approval of the Committees on Appropriations. SELECTIVE SERVICE SYSTEM SALARIES AND EXPENSES

For necessary expenses of the Selective Service System, including expenses of attendance at meetings and of training for uniformed personnel assigned to the Selective Service System, as authorized by law (5 U.S.C. 4101-4118) for civilian employees; and not to exceed $500 for official reception and representation expenses; $22,700,000: Provided, That during the current fiscal year, the President may exempt this appropriation from the provisions of subsection (c) of section 3679 of the Revised Statutes, as amended, whenever he deems such action to be necessary in the interest of national defense: Provided further. That none of the funds appropriated by this Act may be expended for or in connection with the induction of any person into the Armed Forces of the United States.
