Public Law 97-418 97th Congress An Act To amend title 3, United States Code, to clarify the function of the United States Secret Service Uniformed Division with respect to certain foreign diplomatic missions in the United States, and for other purposes.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That (a) section 202(7)(C) of title 3, United States Code, is amended by inserting "may be provided for motorcades and at other places associated with such a visit and" after "protection". (b) Section 208(b) of title 3, United States Code, is amended to read as follows: "(b) There is authorized to be appropriated, in addition to such sums as have been heretofore appropriated under this section— "(1) $7,000,000 for each fiscal year beginning after September 30, 1982, for the payment of reimbursement obligations entered into under subsection (a) after such date; and "(2) $17,700,000 for the payment of reimbursement obligations entered into under subsection (a) before October 1, 1982. Amounts appropriated under this subsection shall remain available until expended.". SEC. 2. The amendments made by the first section of this Act shall take effect on the date of enactment of this Act, except that no amount authorized to be appropriated by the amendment made by subsection (b) of the first section of this Act may be made available for use or obligation prior to October 1, 1982.
