WASTE ISOLATION PILOT PROJECT ROADS For necessary expenses in connection with planning and design activities associated with the upgrading of certain highways for the transportation of nuclear waste generated during defense-related activites, not otherwise provided for, $5,800,000, to remain available until expended: Provided, however. That these funds become availa- ble when construction of the Waste Isolation Pilot Project com- mences. NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION OPERATIONS AND RESEARCH For expenses necessary to discharge the functions of the Secretary with respect to traffic and highway safety and functions under the Motor Vehicle Information and Cost Savings Act (Public Law 92- 513, as amended), $78,000,000, of which $21,884,000 shall be derived 15 USC 1901 from the Highway Trust Fund: Provided, That not to exceed ^°^- $33,070,000 shall remain available until expended, of which $8,810,000 shall be derived from the Highway Trust Fund.
