She helped in the establishment of the Hewett Model Girls' School at Muzaffar. nagar, United Provinces, and founded Pardah Clubs at Shah* jehanpur and Muzaffarnagar with a view to the improvement of Pardah ladies. She is the owner of several villages in Shahjehanpur District and some house property at Naini Tal and in Kashmir. She is a member of the European Club, Shahjehanpur as well as of numerous Pardah Clubs in the province. She is fond of animals, fancy, needle and tapestry work, gardening, giving social parties and travelling and riding. She is the author of a Hindi publication, unki bunat ki PrathaiJi Siksha now adopted by the United Provinces Educational Text Book Committee for schools. She is at present engaged in writing a novel in English under the title of "The Last Lamp out." She is the holder of a Kaisar-i- Hind rnedal (rgio) and is the first Indian lady exempted from the operation of the Arms Act. Address : Prasada Bhawan, Shahjehanpur, U. P. He held non-Gazetted appoint- ments in Nasik, Satara, Ahmednagar, Poona and Sholapur Districts from 1883 to 1899 in which year he was appointed a Deputy Collector. He has been holding his present post of Native Assistant to the Commissioner C. D. since 190 1. He is a member of the Deccan Club, the Deccan Gymkhana and the Gyan Samaj, Poona City.
