He is also chairman of the Board of Directors of the United Association of Mining Industries; Assistant Director General of the Chinese Industrial Bank; general manager of the Chinese-Japanese Industrial Company. He has been high advisor to the President, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce. After the establishment of the Republic in 1912, he was made a member of an advisory bureau in the President's Office. In 1913 he was appointed mining adviser to the Ministry of Agriculture and Commerce. In May 1914 he became a member of the Tsang-chengyuan or Legislative Council in place of Parliament. In April 1915 he resigned in order to become Governor of the Bank of China. In April 1916 he was relieved from the governorship of the Bank.
