they might believe at all. And yet, after all, it was a speaking according to the fact, for the Divine Good had not yet descended to this lower plane from which he spoke. It was the effort to bring down the Divine Good to the plane where the Divine Truth, the Logos, had preceded it—it actually helped to bring it about; but it was at the same time an accommodation in appearance to the minds of his hearers, and for their benefit; for he knew that he and the Father were one, as soul and body are one, just as he had said so many times.
