She was buried at Hawkeshead, where a white marble tablet is inscribed:—

In Memory of
ELIZABETH,
Eldest Daughter of George Smith,
Of Coniston, Esq.
She died August the 7th, aged 29.
she possessed great talents,
exalted virtues,
and humble piety.
