⁂The following references will enable the reader to trace the stories of the Four Zoas through the different books. The sets are headed here by "Vala," as the most complete. It is the last in the arrangement of the books in Vol. III. simply for the convenience of separating the printed and lithographic pages as much as possible. In period of composition and in scheme it is wider than either "Jerusalem" or "Milton," and may be said to enclose them.
