STANZAS.
They tell me that her cheek is pale,
Her eyes have lost their brightness;
Her lips have not that ruby hue,
Her spirit 's lost their lightness.
Her eyes have lost their brightness;
Her lips have not that ruby hue,
Her spirit 's lost their lightness.
Her brow wears not that sunny smile,
Which shed a halo 'round her;
The clouds of sorrow have awhile
In their embraces bound her.
Which shed a halo 'round her;
The clouds of sorrow have awhile
In their embraces bound her.
Oh! may the grief that shrouds her mind
Soon be dispelled forever;
And in the future, may she find
Bright joys, unfading ever.
Soon be dispelled forever;
And in the future, may she find
Bright joys, unfading ever.
But as we journey on life's way,
We taste of joy and sorrow;
And though it be so dark to-day,
It may be bright to-morrow.
We taste of joy and sorrow;
And though it be so dark to-day,
It may be bright to-morrow.
