THE "CHRISTMAS ANGEL"
O blessèd Christmas angel, now
I'd hearken unto thee,
'Neath starlight clear forget how drear
Erstwhile the world to me;
Oh, may thy music joyous
An echo in me find;
And sorrow cease in perfect peace
God's gift to all mankind.

O blessed Christmas angel, still
I'm listening to thee,
Thy song of old anew has told
My Lord's nativity;
Adown the ages echo
The strains the shepherds heard,
"Peace and good will" my spirit fill,
As falls the heavenly word.

O'er fair Judea's shining plain
Still floats that glorious song,
For faith can hear its words of cheer
And see an angel throng;
The wondrous, heavenly music
Glad echoes voice again;
"Glory to God," "Glory to God,"
"Amen,"—"Amen,—"Amen."
