SONNET.
In morning's radiant beam, Almighty One,My thoughts ascend to Thee!—visions of loveRise o'er my soul, and raise it far aboveThis low dim world; and when the day is gone,And the dull night comes, lighted by her star,With all her train of glory—still afarFrom every human eye—absorb'd, alone,Almighty One! my thoughts ascend to Thee,And dreams of everlasting power surroundMy wondering spirit, in the vast profoundOf the blue depths—and with rapt heart I seeIn the fair skies, bright stars, earth, sea, and air,God—nature's God—still present everywhere!
