Marriage

Marriage is a social union or legal contract between people that creates kinship. It is an institution in which interpersonal relationships, usually intimate and sexual, are acknowledged in a variety of ways, depending on the culture or subculture in which it is found. Such a union, often formalized via a wedding ceremony, may also be called matrimony.

Colour photograph of a newly married couple. A blond woman in a wedding dress posed in front of a man in a suit. The woman is leaning on a white car and looking directly at the camera; she has a white veil attached to a tiara and a white dress. The man is looking away from the camera with his collar open and a rose in his lapel. Both are smiling.
