| 029:001 | A.L.M. | Alif-lam-meem |
| 029:002 | Did the people think that they will be left to Say: "We believe" without being put to the test? | Ahasiba alnnasu an yutrakoo an yaqooloo amanna wahum la yuftanoona |
| 029:003 | While We had tested those before them, so that God would know those who are truthful and so that He would know the liars. | Walaqad fatanna allatheena min qablihim falayaAAlamanna Allahu allatheena sadaqoo walayaAAlamanna alkathibeena |
| 029:004 | Or did those who sinned think that they would be ahead of Us? Miserable indeed is their judgment! | Am hasiba allatheena yaAAmaloona alssayyi-ati an yasbiqoona saa ma yahkumoona |
| 029:005 | Whosoever looks forward to meeting God, then God's meeting will come. And He is the Hearer, the Knowledgeable. | Man kana yarjoo liqaa Allahi fa-inna ajala Allahi laatin wahuwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu |
| 029:006 | And whosoever strives then he is only striving for himself; for God is in no need of the worlds. | Waman jahada fa-innama yujahidu linafsihi inna Allaha laghaniyyun AAani alAAalameena |
| 029:007 | And those who believed and did good works, We will cancel their sins and We will reward them in the best for what they did. | Waallatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lanukaffiranna AAanhum sayyi-atihim walanajziyannahum ahsana allathee kanoo yaAAmaloona |
| 029:008 | And We instructed the human to be good to his parents. But if they strive to make you set up partners with Me, then do not obey them. To Me are all your destinies, and I will inform you of what you used to do. | Wawassayna al-insana biwalidayhi husnan wa-in jahadaka litushrika bee ma laysa laka bihi AAilmun fala tutiAAhuma ilayya marjiAAukum faonabbi-okum bima kuntum taAAmaloona |
| 029:009 | And those who believed and did good works, We will admit them with the righteous. | Waallatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lanudkhilannahum fee alssaliheena |
| 029:010 | And from among the people are those who Say: "We believe in God," but if he is harmed in the sake of God, he equates the persecution inflicted by the people with God's punishment! And if a victory comes from your Lord, he says: "We were with you!" Is God not fully aware of what is inside the chests of the worlds? | Wamina alnnasi man yaqoolu amanna biAllahi fa-itha oothiya fee Allahi jaAAala fitnata alnnasi kaAAathabi Allahi wala-in jaa nasrun min rabbika layaqoolunna inna kunna maAAakum awa laysa Allahu bi-aAAlama bima fee sudoori alAAalameena |
| 029:011 | God is fully aware of those who believed, and He is fully aware of the hypocrites. | WalayaAAlamanna Allahu allatheena amanoo walayaAAlamanna almunafiqeena |
| 029:012 | And those who rejected said to those who believed: "Follow our path and we will carry your sins." But they cannot carry anything from their sins, they are liars! | Waqala allatheena kafaroo lillatheena amanoo ittabiAAoo sabeelana walnahmil khatayakum wama hum bihamileena min khatayahum min shay-in innahum lakathiboona |
| 029:013 | They will carry their own burdens as well as burdens with their burdens, and they will be asked on the Day of Resurrection regarding what they fabricated. | Walayahmilunna athqalahum waathqalan maAAa athqalihim walayus-alunna yawma alqiyamati AAamma kanoo yaftaroona |

| 029:014 | And We had sent Noah to his people, so he stayed with them one thousand years less fifty calendar years. Then the flood took them while they were wicked. | Walaqad arsalna noohan ila qawmihi falabitha feehim alfa sanatin illa khamseena AAaman faakhathahumu alttoofanu wahum thalimoona |
| 029:015 | So We saved him and the people on the ship, and We made it a sign for the worlds. | Faanjaynahu waas-haba alssafeenati wajaAAalnaha ayatan lilAAalameena |
| 029:016 | And Abraham when he said to his people: "Serve God and be aware of Him, that is better for you if you knew." | Wa-ibraheema ith qala liqawmihi oAAbudoo Allaha waittaqoohu thalikum khayrun lakum in kuntum taAAlamoona |
| 029:017 | "You are worshipping nothing but idols besides Him, and you are creating fabrications. Those that you worship besides God do not possess for you any provisions, so seek with God the provision and serve Him and be thankful to Him; to Him you will return." | Innama taAAbudoona min dooni Allahi awthanan watakhluqoona ifkan inna allatheena taAAbudoona min dooni Allahi la yamlikoona lakum rizqan faibtaghoo AAinda Allahi alrrizqa waoAAbudoohu waoshkuroo lahu ilayhi turjaAAoona |
| 029:018 | "And if you disbelieve, then nations before you have also disbelieved." The messenger is only required to deliver clearly. | Wa-in tukaththiboo faqad kaththaba omamun min qablikum wama AAala alrrasooli illa albalaghu almubeenu |
| 029:019 | Did they not observe how God initiates the creation then He returns it? All that for God is easy to do. | Awa lam yaraw kayfa yubdi-o Allahu alkhalqa thumma yuAAeeduhu inna thalika AAala Allahi yaseerun |
| 029:020 | Say: "Roam the Earth and observe how the creation was initiated. Thus God will establish the final creation. God is capable of all things." | Qul seeroo fee al-ardi faonthuroo kayfa badaa alkhalqa thumma Allahu yunshi-o alnnash-ata al-akhirata inna Allaha AAala kulli shay-in qadeerun |
| 029:021 | "God will punish whom He wills and He will have mercy on whom He wills, and to Him you will return." | YuAAaththibu man yashao wayarhamu man yashao wa-ilayhi tuqlaboona |
| 029:022 | "And you will not be able to escape this fact, on Earth or in the heavens, nor do you have besides God any ally or victor." | Wama antum bimuAAjizeena fee al-ardi wala fee alssama-i wama lakum min dooni Allahi min waliyyin wala naseerin |

| 029:023 | And those who rejected God's revelations and in meeting Him, they have forsaken My mercy, and they will have a painful retribution. | Waallatheena kafaroo bi-ayati Allahi waliqa-ihi ola-ika ya-isoo min rahmatee waola-ika lahum AAathabun aleemun |
| 029:024 | But the only response from his people was their saying: "Kill him, or burn him." But God saved him from the fire. In this are signs for a people who believe. | Fama kana jawaba qawmihi illa an qaloo oqtuloohu aw harriqoohu faanjahu Allahu mina alnnari inna fee thalika laayatin liqawmin yu/minoona |
| 029:025 | And he said: "You have taken idols besides God in order to preserve some friendship among you in this worldly life. But then, on the Day of Resurrection, you will disown one another, and curse one another. Your destiny is Hell, and you will have no victors." | Waqala innama ittakhathtum min dooni Allahi awthanan mawaddata baynikum fee alhayati alddunya thumma yawma alqiyamati yakfuru baAAdukum bibaAAdin wayalAAanu baAAdukum baAAdan wama-wakumu alnnaru wama lakum min nasireena |
| 029:026 | Thus, Lot believed with him and said: "I am emigrating to my Lord. He is the Noble, the Wise." | Faamana lahu lootun waqala innee muhajirun ila rabbee innahu huwa alAAazeezu alhakeemu |
| 029:027 | And We granted him Isaac and Jacob, and We made within his progeny the prophethood and the Scripture. And We gave him his reward in this world, and in the Hereafter he is among the righteous. | Wawahabna lahu ishaqa wayaAAqooba wajaAAalna fee thurriyyatihi alnnubuwwata waalkitaba waataynahu ajrahu fee alddunya wa-innahu fee al-akhirati lamina alssaliheena |
| 029:028 | And Lot, when he said to his people: "You commit a lewdness that no others in the world have done before!" | Walootan ith qala liqawmihi innakum lata/toona alfahishata ma sabaqakum biha min ahadin mina alAAalameena |
| 029:029 | "You sexually approach men, and you cut off the lineage, and you bring all vice to your society." But the only response from his people was to Say: "Bring us God's retribution, if you are being truthful!" | A-innakum lata/toona alrrijala wataqtaAAoona alssabeela wata/toona fee nadeekumu almunkara fama kana jawaba qawmihi illa an qaloo i/tina biAAathabi Allahi in kunta mina alssadiqeena |
| 029:030 | He said: "My Lord, grant me victory over the wicked people." | Qala rabbi onsurnee AAala alqawmi almufsideena |

| 029:031 | And when Our messengers came to Abraham with good news, they then said: "We are to destroy the people of such a town, for its people have been wicked." | Walamma jaat rusuluna ibraheema bialbushra qaloo inna muhlikoo ahli hathihi alqaryati inna ahlaha kanoo thalimeena |
| 029:032 | He said: "But Lot is in it!" They said: "We are fully aware of who is in it. We will save him and his family, except his wife; she is of those doomed." | Qala inna feeha lootan qaloo nahnu aAAlamu biman feeha lanunajjiyannahu waahlahu illa imraatahu kanat mina alghabireena |
| 029:033 | Thus when Our messengers came to Lot, they were mistreated, and he was embarrassed towards them. And they said: "Do not fear, and do not be saddened. We will save you and your family, except for your wife; she is of those doomed." | Walamma an jaat rusuluna lootan see-a bihim wadaqa bihim tharAAan waqaloo la takhaf wala tahzan inna munajjooka waahlaka illa imraataka kanat mina alghabireena |
| 029:034 | "We will send down upon the people of this town an affliction from the sky, as a consequence of their wickedness." | Inna munziloona AAala ahli hathihi alqaryati rijzan mina alssama-i bima kanoo yafsuqoona |
| 029:035 | And We left remains of it as a clear sign for a people who understand. | Walaqad tarakna minha ayatan bayyinatan liqawmin yaAAqiloona |
| 029:036 | And to Median was their brother Shu'ayb. He said: "O my people, serve God and seek the Last Day, and do not roam the Earth corrupting." | Wa-ila madyana akhahum shuAAayban faqala ya qawmi oAAbudoo Allaha waorjoo alyawma al-akhira wala taAAthaw fee al-ardi mufsideena |
| 029:037 | But they denied him, thus the Earthquake took them; they were then left dead in their homes. | Fakaththaboohu faakhathat-humu alrrajfatu faasbahoo fee darihim jathimeena |
| 029:038 | And 'Aad and Thamud. Much was made apparent to you from their dwellings. The devil had adorned their works in their eyes, thus he diverted them from the path, even though they could see. | WaAAadan wathamooda waqad tabayyana lakum min masakinihim wazayyana lahumu alshshaytanu aAAmalahum fasaddahum AAani alssabeeli wakanoo mustabsireena |
| 029:039 | And Qaaroon, and Pharaoh, and Haamaan; Moses went to them with clear proofs. But they became arrogant in the land, and they were not the first. | Waqaroona wafirAAawna wahamana walaqad jaahum moosa bialbayyinati faistakbaroo fee al-ardi wama kanoo sabiqeena |
| 029:040 | We took each by his sins. Some of them We sent upon him violent winds, some of them were taken by the scream, some of them We caused the Earth to swallow, and some of them We drowned. God is not the One who wronged them; it is they who wronged themselves. | Fakullan akhathna bithanbihi faminhum man arsalna AAalayhi hasiban waminhum man akhathat-hu alssayhatu waminhum man khasafna bihi al-arda waminhum man aghraqna wama kana Allahu liyathlimahum walakin kanoo anfusahum yathlimoona |
| 029:041 | The example of those who take allies besides God is like the spider how it makes a home; and the weakest home is the home of the spider, if they only knew. | Mathalu allatheena ittakhathoo min dooni Allahi awliyaa kamathali alAAankabooti ittakhathat baytan wa-inna awhana albuyooti labaytu alAAankabooti law kanoo yaAAlamoona |
| 029:042 | God knows that what they are calling on besides Him is nothing. He is the Noble, the Wise. | Inna Allaha yaAAlamu ma yadAAoona min doonihi min shay-in wahuwa alAAazeezu alhakeemu |
| 029:043 | Such are the examples We cite for the people, but none comprehend except the knowledgeable. | Watilka al-amthalu nadribuha lilnnasi wama yaAAqiluha illa alAAalimoona |
| 029:044 | God created the heavens and the Earth, with truth. In that is a sign for the faithful. | Khalaqa Allahu alssamawati waal-arda bialhaqqi inna fee thalika laayatan lilmu-mineena |

| 029:045 | Recite what is inspired to thou of the Scripture, and hold the contact-method; for the contact-method prohibits evil and vice, and the remembrance of God is the greatest. God knows everything you do. | Otlu ma oohiya ilayka mina alkitabi waaqimi alssalata inna alssalata tanha AAani alfahsha-i waalmunkari walathikru Allahi akbaru waAllahu yaAAlamu ma tasnaAAoona |
| 029:046 | And do not argue with the people of the Scripture except in the best manner; except for those who are wicked amongst them; and Say: "We believe in what was revealed to us and in what was revealed to you, and our god and your god is the same; to Him we surrender." | Wala tujadiloo ahla alkitabi illa biallatee hiya ahsanu illa allatheena thalamoo minhum waqooloo amanna biallathee onzila ilayna waonzila ilaykum wa-ilahuna wa-ilahukum wahidun wanahnu lahu muslimoona |
| 029:047 | And similarly, We have sent down to you the Book. Thus, those whom We have given the Scripture will believe in it. Also, some of your people will believe in it. The only ones who mock Our revelations are the rejecters. | Wakathalika anzalna ilayka alkitaba faallatheena ataynahumu alkitaba yu/minoona bihi wamin haola-i man yu/minu bihi wama yajhadu bi-ayatina illa alkafiroona |
| 029:048 | You were not reciting any scripture before this, nor were you writing one down by your hand. In that case, the doubters would have had reason. | Wama kunta tatloo min qablihi min kitabin wala takhuttuhu biyameenika ithan lairtaba almubtiloona |
| 029:049 | In fact, it is a clear revelation in the chests of those who have been given knowledge. And it is only the wicked who doubt Our revelations. | Bal huwa ayatun bayyinatun fee sudoori allatheena ootoo alAAilma wama yajhadu bi-ayatina illa alththalimoona |
| 029:050 | And they said: "If only signs would come down to him from his Lord!" Say: "All signs are with God, and I am but a clear warner." | Waqaloo lawla onzila AAalayhi ayatun min rabbihi qul innama al-ayatu AAinda Allahi wa-innama ana natheerun mubeenun |
| 029:051 | Is it not enough for them that We have sent down to you the Scripture, being recited to them? In that is a mercy and a reminder for people who believe. | Awa lam yakfihim anna anzalna AAalayka alkitaba yutla AAalayhim inna fee thalika larahmatan wathikra liqawmin yu/minoona |

| 029:052 | Say: "God is enough as a witness between me and you. He knows what is in the heavens and the Earth. As for those who believe in falsehood and reject God, they are the losers." | Qul kafa biAllahi baynee wabaynakum shaheedan yaAAlamu ma fee alssamawati waal-ardi waallatheena amanoo bialbatili wakafaroo biAllahi ola-ika humu alkhasiroona |
| 029:053 | And they hasten you for the retribution! If it were not for a predetermined appointment, the retribution would have come to them. It will come to them suddenly, when they do not expect. | WayastaAAjiloonaka bialAAathabi walawla ajalun musamman lajaahumu alAAathabu walaya/tiyannahum baghtatan wahum la yashAAuroona |
| 029:054 | They hasten you for the retribution; while Hell surrounds the rejecters. | YastaAAjiloonaka bialAAathabi wa-inna jahannama lamuheetatun bialkafireena |
| 029:055 | The Day will come when the retribution overwhelms them, from above them and from beneath their feet; and He will Say: "Taste the results of what you used to do!" | Yawma yaghshahumu alAAathabu min fawqihim wamin tahti arjulihim wayaqoolu thooqoo ma kuntum taAAmaloona |
| 029:056 | "O My servants who believed, My Earth is spacious, so serve only Me." | Ya AAibadiya allatheena amanoo inna ardee wasiAAatun fa-iyyaya faoAAbudooni |
| 029:057 | Every soul will taste death, then to Us you will be returned. | Kullu nafsin tha-iqatu almawti thumma ilayna turjaAAoona |
| 029:058 | And those who believe and do good work, We will settle them in mansions in Paradise, with rivers flowing beneath. Eternally they abide therein. Excellent is the reward for the workers. | Waallatheena amanoo waAAamiloo alssalihati lanubawwi-annahum mina aljannati ghurafan tajree min tahtiha al-anharu khalideena feeha niAAma ajru alAAamileena |
| 029:059 | They are the ones who were patient, and put their trust in their Lord. | Allatheena sabaroo waAAala rabbihim yatawakkaloona |
| 029:060 | Many a creature does not carry its provision; God provides for it, as well as for you. He is the Hearer, the Knowledgeable. | Wakaayyin min dabbatin la tahmilu rizqaha Allahu yarzuquha wa-iyyakum wahuwa alssameeAAu alAAaleemu |
| 029:061 | And if you ask them: "Who created the heavens and the Earth, and put the sun and the moon in motion?" They will Say: "God." Why then did they deviate? | Wala-in saaltahum man khalaqa alssamawati waal-arda wasakhkhara alshshamsa waalqamara layaqoolunna Allahu faanna yu/fakoona |
| 029:062 | God expands the provision for whomever He chooses from among His servants, and withholds it. God is fully aware of all things. | Allahu yabsutu alrrizqa liman yashao min AAibadihi wayaqdiru lahu inna Allaha bikulli shay-in AAaleemun |
| 029:063 | And if you ask them: "Who sends down water from the sky, thus reviving the land after its death?" They will Say: "God," Say: "Praise be to God." But most of them do not understand. | Wala-in saaltahum man nazzala mina alssama-i maan faahya bihi al-arda min baAAdi mawtiha layaqoolunna Allahu quli alhamdu lillahi bal aktharuhum la yaAAqiloona |

| 029:064 | This worldly life is no more than fun and distraction, while the abode of the Hereafter is the reality, if they only knew. | Wama hathihi alhayatu alddunya illa lahwun walaAAibun wa-inna alddara al-akhirata lahiya alhayawanu law kanoo yaAAlamoona |
| 029:065 | When they ride on a ship, they call on God, devoting the system to Him. But as soon as He saves them to the shore, they set up partners. | Fa-itha rakiboo fee alfulki daAAawoo Allaha mukhliseena lahu alddeena falamma najjahum ila albarri itha hum yushrikoona |
| 029:066 | Let them reject what We have given them, and let them enjoy; for they will come to know. | Liyakfuroo bima ataynahum waliyatamattaAAoo fasawfa yaAAlamoona |
| 029:067 | Have they not seen that We have established a safe territory, while all around them the people are in constant danger? Would they still believe in falsehood, and reject God's blessings? | Awa lam yaraw anna jaAAalna haraman aminan wayutakhattafu alnnasu min hawlihim afabialbatili yu/minoona wabiniAAmati Allahi yakfuroona |
| 029:068 | Who is more evil than one who fabricates lies and attributes them to God, or denies the truth when it comes to him? Is there not a place in Hell for the rejecters? | Waman athlamu mimmani iftara AAala Allahi kathiban aw kaththaba bialhaqqi lamma jaahu alaysa fee jahannama mathwan lilkafireena |
| 029:069 | As for those who strive in Our cause, We will guide them to Our paths. For God is with the pious. | Waallatheena jahadoo feena lanahdiyannahum subulana wa-inna Allaha lamaAAa almuhsineena |
