Memory has in fee
A land where fallen suns
Illume the light and fragile bronze
Of autumn leaves unchangingly.
Memory has in fee

Memory knows the face
Of one who wanders there,
Tranquil and tall, for ever fair
With dreamful, slow, mysterious grace:
Memory knows her face,
Supremely pale and fair.
Memory sees the sky
In her blue eyes alone;
And all the forest-bronze is flown,
Lost in her hair eternally:
Memory finds the sky
In her blue eyes alone.
Memory takes her hand
Across the lonesome years—
And all the ancient stream of tears
Has ceased within an autumn land:

Across forgotten tears.
