RESOLUTION OF BOTH HOUSES OF CONGRESS PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONSTITUTION OF THE PHILIPPINES.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Philippines in joint session assembled, by a vote of not less than three-fourths of all the Members of each House voting separately: To propose, as they hereby propose:

Section 1. Section sixteen, Article VI of the Constitution of the Philippines is amended to read as follows:

"Sec. 16. No Senator or Member of the House of Representatives may hold any office or employment in the Government without forfeiting his seat, nor shall any Senator or Member of the House of Representatives, during the time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil office which may have been created or the emolument whereof shall have been increased while he was a Member of the Congress. He may, however, be a Member of a Constitutional Convention."

Sec. 2. This amendment shall be valid as part of the Constitution when approved by a majority of the votes cast in an election at which it is submitted to the people for their ratification pursuant to Article XV of the Constitution.
