Passed his examination, at Sheerness, in May 1812; and was serving on board the Eurotas frigate. Captain (now Sir John) Phillimore, at the capture of la Clorinde, in Feb. 1814[1]. For his conduct on that occasion, he was appointed a lieutenant of the same ship, on the 4th of the ensuing month. He obtained a commander’s commission in Oct. 1824.
