Was made a lieutenant in 1794; and promoted to the command of the Termagant sloop, on the Mediterranean station, Jan. 2d, 1804. In May following, he captured la Felicité French privateer, of two guns and sixty men, near Corsica. In 1808, he was appointed to the Briseis, the boats of which vessel, in company with those of the Bruiser gun-brig, captured a Danish privateer, El Courier, on the Heligoland station, in May 1809.
