Signs and Wonders God Wrought in the Ministry for Forty Years/Preface

Preface to First Book

I was out in evangelistic work only a short time, when the Lord showed me plainly that He wanted me to write an account of my birth, childhood, conversion, wonderful call, baptism of the Holy Ghost and my experience up to this time. This led me to write my first book: "Life, Experience and Work."

Preface to Second Book

God so manifestly blessed this first book so that in a very short time they were all scattered far and near. Soon urgent calls came for a second edition of this work. The Lord showed me by this time that I should teach divine healing; lay hands on and pray for the sick, cast out devils that they would recover, be saved, healed, and filled with the Holy Spirit. I obeyed and a harvest of souls have been won for Christ.

Preface to Third Book

The Lord wonderfully blessed these books for spirit, soul and body. The people were very hungry for more of God and for more light. The Lord then led me to publish the third, a large volume called "Trials and Triumphs." It was so called because life in the ministry was one of trials and triumphs. The people received great inspiration and courage by reading this volume.

Preface to Fourth Book

It was not long till "Trials and Triumphs" were all out among the people, and people came almost begging for me to get one more book. Of this fourth edition I published ten thousand. God also led me to publish a book of sermons. These two books went out almost side by side into the great harvest field. Wonderful testimonies came back how people got into touch with

God by reading them.

Preface to Fifth Book

This book was compiled after I was out in the ministry for about twenty-five years, and contained a summary of God's dealings with His hand-maiden during this period. Besides all these volumes, God led me to get out at various times "Song Books" which He so strikingly used to bring down "Heaven's power" on the people.

Preface to Sixth Book

While at Dallas, Texas, nearly three years ago (1913), in the midst of a great revival, there was such a demand for some of my past volumes, which were all out among the people, and out of print, that I felt moved by the Holy Spirit to write the sixth volume, "Acts of the Holy Ghost," of which ten thousand were printed. The supply of this volume is now nearly exhausted, so I wrote the present volume, "Signs and Wonders."

Preface to New Book
SIGNS and WONDERS

June, 1916.

Our God "is moving on" and in displays of His power is showing that the end of this age, with its world-form of governments, is drawing nigh.

The rightful King will come soon, and our Lord Jesus will take His Kingdom. Preparing to meet God is the true "preparedness."

At the close of this "Gentile Age," "Signs and Wonders" are being wrought in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ "as at the beginning." Most of the narrative of God's wonderful work and leadings follow consecutively, some sermons being appended as before. No attempt has been made at literary style or embellishment.

Pray that God may graciously use the circulation of this book and, where practical, forward its tidings by introducing it to others.
