| Notes: | I wasn't completely sure if the actual order read like this, as opposed to an amendment of the earlier orders, but the 1944 "Presidential Executive Orders" book summarizes the entire text of the order without mentioning any earlier orders, so this would appear to be the actual text. All other references also always had the entire text, and finally the War Department General Orders book, by doing searches, also contains the entire text along with the Roosevelt signature section, so that would indeed seem to be the full verbatim version. Since the first paragraph was modified as well as adding the last paragraph, I guess it was easier to restate the entire order rather than phrase it as an amendment. |
