Talk:Fifes and Drums/The Return of the Exiles

Title, not section edit

Coates didn't write this poem, but the one before (so Author section needs fixing), and I don't think there are sections in this text... Just poem titles. What you did led me to a dead-end in the "Next" field as well. Londonjackbooks (talk)

A copy paste error. I think it should be this way. CYGNIS INSIGNIS 14:39, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Check out this version from Woodberry's 1919 collection. He subsequently changed the main title to "Siberia" and made the original title ("The Return of the Exiles") a subtitle. I do not believe there are sections in Fifes and Drums, if you go through the text page by page...but I am open to being wrong here as I often have blinders on! :) Londonjackbooks (talk) 14:48, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
I added The roamer and other poems/Siberia: the Return of the Exiles, so there is two {{Versions}}. The book and section title distinguish those pretty effectively. CYGNIS INSIGNIS 16:16, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
I think I understand what you're saying now... The poem title as section (in {{header}}), with title ("Fifes and Drums") being actual header title! Got it! Do you think so, though? I always thought the header title should be the title of that Mainspace page—which would be the poem title in this case...? I'll have to brush up on my style guide I guess... See: blinders on! :) (I originally thought you were trying to say that Woodberry's poem title was actually a new section title in the actual book. I think the copy/paste errors threw me! Been there, done that! Londonjackbooks (talk) 15:52, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
I don't think the header template handles this very well, but using the poem title for the transcluded section allows a link to source (the book's title). CYGNIS INSIGNIS 16:16, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
I've started making changes as per your suggestion; please provide feedback so I know whether it's what you were thinking. Thanks for the heads-up! Londonjackbooks (talk) 16:24, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Author page edit

Ohhhh... Sorry for the oversight on my part! And for whatever trouble it caused! :) Londonjackbooks (talk) 15:45, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

You can still keep the picture!? :) Londonjackbooks (talk) 15:46, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

I left it out, I remember what it was like to have slow connection :) CYGNIS INSIGNIS
Re:Images: I have a feeling the (I almost wrote "my"!) Coates author:page/s must drive you crazy then!? Londonjackbooks (talk) 22:08, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Re:"slow connection": I just got that! My problem is, I take things literally at first—I did used to actually have a slow computer connection, till I started using Chrome instead of another browser, but you probably wouldn't have known that (although I think I mentioned it here before)... Yeah—I'm happy for you that you no longer have one; I'm afraid I will have a "slow connection" for life! Keeps me out of trouble, though...usually... :) Londonjackbooks (talk) 22:28, 28 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
