Talk:Franklin to Benjamin Webb

Latest comment: 6 years ago by Haxwell in topic The Reliable Source

I added this letter because it's referenced on the Wikipedia page for Pay it forward, but with a web reference that's hard to follow. I tagged it as "new text" just to be sure I got the header format right.

Also, should page title be "Benjamin Franklin to Benjamin Webb"? I was following the style of the Author:Benjamin Franklin page. If you move it, please put a redirect on this page so you don't break the Wikipedia link. Thanks. Rbean 17:29, 4 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you a lot for adding this - this was a revelation for me! SebastianHelm 06:20, 3 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

I searched in the National Archives' Franklin Papers collection, and did not find this letter. I searched and I did find a webpage for the Packard Humanities Institute with the letter, listed as "unpublished". Though it says its from the American Philosophical Society and Yale University, the page was of such old-school, low quality, I doubted its veracity. I continued searching in the American Philosophical Society's page, and after some trial and error, found the above link, referencing a document in the Society's Philadelphia library. It is not available to read online, but the fact they say they have it will have to do until someone can get up there and verify the document and this Wikisource page agree. -- Haxwell (talk) 23:14, 24 November 2017 (UTC)Reply
