Group Messaging Encryption edit

May I ask for the source of Group Messaging Encryption? I am afraid that this text is not suitable for Wikisource as it does not seem to be in accordance with WS:What Wikisource includes. --Jan Kameníček (talk) 20:03, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Jan Kameníček The source is a bachelors thesis at Stanford University. I thought it fell under the scientific research category 108.85.243.12 21:01, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
I see. Unfortunately, until it is published by somebody, it does not fall under Wikisource scope :-( I am very sorry. --Jan Kameníček (talk) 21:09, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Is it possible to verify the work somewhere? --Jan Kameníček (talk) 21:10, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
It would really help if the work was accessible e.g. on the web of the university. --Jan Kameníček (talk) 21:12, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Jan Kameníček Understood, it is actually on the web of the university. Do I place the link in the article? I was afraid of putting any external links. 108.85.243.12 21:31, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
It is better to place it to the talk page of the article, so that other contributors could check it. --Jan Kameníček (talk) 21:36, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Jan Kameníček Here is the link on Stanford web https://cs.stanford.edu/~tylerw/Efficient_and_Secure_Group_Messaging.pdf and more info on reviews and advisors for the paper from https://cs.stanford.edu/~tylerw/ I am moving our conversation to the talk page of the article instead of my private user space so other contributors can see this discussion easily. 108.85.243.12 22:12, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Thanks very much. Unfortunately, there is written no copyright licence in the linked document, which makes things slightly complicated, because works hosted at Wikisource have to be released under some free license and this release has to be verified. Probably the only suitable licence could be {{PD-author-release}}. I have the following suggestions:
  • If you are the author and copyright holder of the work, you can upload the pdf document to Commons and write to OTRS an email confirming that you are copyright holder of the work and that you release it under a free license, see an example of such a letter.
  • If you are not the author or the copyright holder, you can ask the person who is to release the work and to write the email to OTRS.
I am aware of the fact that it is complicated but it is unfortunately the only possibility. --Jan Kameníček (talk) 22:41, 26 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Jan.Kamenicek: I have prodded the user at v:User talk:Lemonade155 so they can create a local account, and enable a better conversation and direction. — billinghurst sDrewth 13:24, 27 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
I am the author of this work. I just have published it under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 4.0 International license, documented at s:File:Efficient and Secure Group Messaging.pdf Lemonade155 (talk) 23:45, 27 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
An email from my @stanford.edu has been sent to OTRS using the provided template.Lemonade155 (talk) 23:52, 27 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Jan Kameníček Can you restore the associated author page? I have tried pinging sDrewth on his talk page and on the Author Page's talk section on more details for his deletion of it but have gotten no answer. I'm not sure if there were was something problematic with the page as it was or if for some reason scientific works don't merit an author page? I haven't been able to find anything of the sort on the help pages, on the contrary, I've only found that it's important to make sure that every hosted text has a linked author page. For completeness of documentation I am pasting the reply from Billinghurst, who answered on his talk page and restored the author page:

Done It was out of scope at the time when the work was being questioned. I have removed the out of scope material. — billinghurst sDrewth 14:38, 21 July 2021 (UTC)Reply
