| Notes: | Source used by original uploader 203.173.197.77 is unclear, but as she/he mentioned "This is sang at the end of Renee's 1991 play Jeannie Once (Renee, VICTORIA UNIVERSITY PRESS, 1991)" (which doesn't belong into the poem's page), it's likely that the mentioned print edition of Renée's play was the immediate source used. The original edition still needs to be found, it probably was in 1796 or later, as I read somewhere that Burns wrote the poem a few weeks before his death (1796). |
