A bit big edit

@Sp1nd01: This work is quite long to be transcluded all on a single page. Any particular reason you didn't split it into subpages for each chapter? Xover (talk) 08:42, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply

Oh, and it is preferable to exclude the pages marked as "Without text" from transclusion. You can use the checker tool linked in one of the little icons in the top right of the Index: page to check this. Xover (talk) 08:45, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Xover, I simply don't understand how transclusion works, whenever I have tried I always get confused and make a mess so I tend to keep away from it as much as possible. I think in this case I created the page to see how everything looked when rolled together, that's all. Please break it up into chapters if that is required. Thanks Sp1nd01 (talk) 08:52, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Sp1nd01: Yeah, I can't blame you: transclusion is more of a dark art than anything, and it really exposes the nuts and bolts. But once you get a mental model of how it works it's not really all that difficult (a bit tedious is all). And the great thing about a wiki is that any mistake can be reversed or corrected. In other words: just forge ahead and try, and if you run into trouble just ask for help! :)
I've gone ahead and split this into subpages (feel free to ask if there's anything there you don't understand). As you can see it's mostly just a lot of repetitive code, and then keeping track of all the page numbers. I also added a default layout to the transcluded pages because most people find it easier to read shorter lines. Xover (talk) 13:10, 23 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
@Xover, Thank you for tidying up this transclusion. I'll take a look at what you did any may have a go at tidying up another big page I created way back in 2018. Similar issue, I wanted to see what things looked like at the time, but had no idea how to break it into Chapters. (The Naturalist's Library/Bees) Sp1nd01 (talk) 09:26, 25 October 2021 (UTC)Reply
