| Notes: | What does "The Gospel of Wealth" consist of?: The book, "The Gospel of Wealth and Other Timely Essays" by Andrew Carnegie (New York, 1901), cites the "North American Review, June and December, 1889" (on page xxiii) as the source of its chapter entitled "The Gospel of Wealth". Those 1889 sources consist of two essays, Wealth and The Best Fields for Philanthropy which mostly follow the two sections currently here on Wikisource (as of 2007-11) although I did not closely proofread. Sourcing: There are typos in the text here which perhaps could be used to help confirm the source/edition of this particular transcription? If more of The North American Review is made available, maybe sourcing and fixing this text would be unnecessary and we could just link to the two original essays? |
