Subsequent Amendments
editThe Foresaid Provisions have been amended in 1949 (To allow the Shah to dissolve Parliament), in 1963 (To grant women's suffrage and make education compulsory), and in 1967 (To Provide for a Regency), before being replaced in their entirety by a New Republican Constitution in 1979, which itself was amended in 1989 (to abolish the Premiership, to loosen the Qualifications of Office of the Supreme Leader, to make the Expedency Council Permanent, and to establish a National Security Council). —unsigned comment by Billinghurst (talk) 13:29, 6 November 2016 (UTC).
