Talk:The Reminiscences of Carl Schurz

Sources edit

Additional illustrations/captions are taken from the original McClure's magazine version of Volumes One, Two and Three. For Volume One, the footnotes in the "List of Illustrations" cite sources for several other additions. In most cases, citations for McClure's magazine can be found in Wikimedia Commons in the Information provided with the illustrations. In at least one case I substituted an illustration identical to McClure's from Wikimedia Commons, and since it was uploaded by a different person from a different source a McClure's citation is not provided, but certainly it would be easy enough to locate in the McClure's source using the other McClure's citations. Unfortunately, I know of no URL for scans of the McClure's magazine material. A recent check of archive.org yielded several issues of McClure's magazine, but not the ones with Schurz's Reminiscences. When the illustration captions from the book are elaborated with additional material, the additions appear in brackets. As mentioned above, most of this material comes from the McClure's magazine serialization, but in at least one case I think I used my own material (a translation of "Rathaus").
