Latest comment: 12 years ago by 173.173.77.113 in topic Convention of 1818

Im doing a school assignment on the Convention of 1818. I have a few questions:

1. Describe how the agreement was or was not effective

2. Describe how the agreement was or was not fair

3. Describe how the agreement was imposed or implemented

Convention of 1818 edit

The convention of 1818 did several things. It set the boundary of Louisanna territory between America and Canada at the 49th parallel, and also made each country maintain their borders without armed forces. Through Secretary of State, John Quincy's efforts, Americans also gained the right to settle in Oregon country. The convention wasn't for joint-occupation, it was just an interest that was put forth at the time and place.
