This is a documentation subpage for Template:Binders mark. It contains usage information, categories and other content that is not part of the original template page. |
Usage
editThis template identifies its content as a binder's mark, numbers or letters (or both) at the beginning of a section. Binder's marks should not be reproduced in the output of Wikisource works (see Help:Formatting conventions#Binder's marks).
This is a pseudo-semantic template, in that it semantically identifies its content. The purpose is to leave a marker in the page source that the binder's mark has been identified and is intentionally being kept out of the page rendering.
If substituted (via {{subst:Binders mark}}
or its {{bm}} shortcut: {{subst:bm}}
, it simply wraps the content in an HTML comment to remove it from page rendering.
An example of correct substituted usage is Page:The wealth of nations, volume 3.djvu/129, which is an edition of Adam Smith's The Wealth of Nations, produced in Volumes 16–18 as part of a "complete library" of science classics by P. F. Collier & Son in 1902. The binder's mark "Science XVI. – <serial>" (where '<serial>' begins with 'B' and increases every 24 pages.
Example
edit{{subst:bm|{{sc|Science XVI. – B}}}}
results in:
<!-- {{sc|Science XVI. – B}} -- binder's mark, should not be reproduced -->
