Parameter edit
An optional parameter may be added to the template, which should be the year in which the candidacy discussion took place. This allows the template to link directly to the archived edition of the discussion.
Placement edit
Place this template on the talk page of unsuccessful featured text candidates. It should replace the {{featured text candidate}} template.
