proposal to add an optional second parameter edit

i would like to propose a change, basically, to have an optional second parameter, which would basically imitate the behavior of 2, but using '{','}', and '|' instead of '[',']', and ':'

The reason? If i have an article full of Supreme Court of the United States but it is also full of things like Louis Brandeis, i will get the w: and the w| mixed up in my brain and it will look confusing to me...

The code would be something like #if {} | {} | {}

So you could have SCOTUS next to Louis Brandeis, it doesnt look so 'funny' to my mind, and would be easier on my old brain when im typing.

I am not sure though if this is that good of an idea, or if it would break things, so i just thought id throw it out there. Thank you for reading. Decora (talk) 01:32, 9 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I believe I've implemented the above suggestion by replacing {} with {{{2|{}}}}. Hopefully this should not disrupt any existing link to the template... unless a page already supplied a second parameter that was previously ignored. Mike Serfas (talk) 19:27, 21 February 2010 (UTC)Reply
