AALBORG (Eel Town), a seaport and city of Denmark, in Jutland, capital of a district of the same name, on the S. shore of the Lymfiord, 15 m. from its outlet in the Cattegat; pop. in 1870, 11,721. It has a school of navigation, manufactories, and a large herring fishery. It was a celebrated seaport as early as 1070, and for a long time the most important mart of Jutland for all native products.
