ABA or ABU HANIFAH, or HANIFA, ǎ′ba or ä′boo hä-nĕ′fa, or hän′fa, surnamed Alnooma: b. in the 80th and d. in the 150th year of the Hegira (701–71). He is the most celebrated doctor of the orthodox Mussulmans, and his sect is the most esteemed of the four which they severally follow.
