Government Notification.

The Contract for publishing this Gazette, entered into on the 24th September, 1853, was terminated on the 30th ultime; and notice is hereby given, that a New Series of this Gazette will be published hereafter, to commence from the 7th instant, under a New Contract, and that

"THE HONGKONG GOVERNMENT GAZETTE,"

will, as before, be the only Official Organ for Proclamations, Notifications, and Public Papers, of this Government.

Government Notification.

In consequence of Instructions from Her Majesty's Principal Secretary of State for the Colonies having reference to the Government of Hongkong and its Dependencies, it is hereby intimated, that the Government Notification of 15th April, 1854, first in order in the Gazette of 22d April, 1854, is withdrawn from this date, and that all Communications to Government in matters concerning this Colony are in future to be addressed to the Colonial Secretary, for submission to His Excellency the Governor and Commander-in-Chief.

Government Notification.

It is hereby notified, under the terms of Clause 36, Part II. (illegible text) the "Merchant Shipping Act, 1864," that the Certificate (illegible text) the Harbour Master for the time being, or that of (illegible text) Rickett, Esq., Government Marine Surveyor, will be received as sufficient to prove the Measurement of Ships requiring Imperial Registers at this Port.

No. 7.

Government Notification.

It is in contemplation to offer for Sale by Public Auction the Land situated between the site of the late Howitzer Battery and the site of the late Naval Stores, forming a length of frontage of about 900 Feet.

Parties desirous of purchasing Lots in that Locality, either on the sea or land side of the Queen's Road, are requested to communicate with the Surveyor General on or before the 20th instant, in order that their wishes with regard to Size may as far as possible be attended to previously to the completion of the plan.

The Sale will take place on the 4th proximo, before which date the detailed particulars of the Land and Rental will be published for general information.

Contents, and value of packages, are required.

A Written Declaration of the Contents and Value of the Packages for the Overland Route is required by the Egyptian Government, and must be delivered by the Shipper to the Company's Agents with the Bills of Lading or with Parcels; and the Company do not hold themselves responsible for any Detention or Prejudice which may happen from incorrectness in such declaration.

Public Auction of Landed Property.

Lane, Crawford & Co. have received instructions to sell by Public Auctions, (illegible text) Ground, on Monday, the 20th August (illegible text) Noon,—the whole of

Marine Lot No. 58,

situate in Victoria West, with the building thereon, known as Pybus's Godowns.

This Eligible Property possesses a Sea Frontage (illegible text) 230 Feet, and presents facilities for adding (illegible text) largely to its value by reclaiming from the Sea.

The Queen's Road Frontage extends 260 (illegible text) from East to West, and from the nature of its (illegible text)tion, near the Centre of a populous part of the (illegible text) forms an admirable site for a range of Chinese (illegible text) and Dwelling Houses.
