Sir C. Harington dies
British General, 68, Was Hero of Great War
London, October 23.—Gen. Sir Charles Harington, 68, a senior general staff officer of the Canadian Corps during part of the Great War and later Governor of Gibraltar, died today.
After leaving the Canadians, Sir Charles became chief of staff to Lord Plumer's 2nd Army in France and Italy, and his staff planning laid the foundation of many of that army's successes.
He commanded the army of the Black Sea in 1920 and the next year became chief of the forces of occupation in Turkey. His term at Gibraltar fro 1933 to 1938, covered the period of the Spanish civil war and the crisis of September, 1938.
