Corpus Christi, Texas, a city and county-seat of Nueces County, 140 miles from San Antonio. It is located at the mouth of the Nueces River, on Corpus Christi Bay. It is the trading-center of a fine agricultural and stock-raising region, and its oyster and fish-packing-business is very large. The city has good public schools, a convent, several churches, etc. It is served by two railroads, and has a regular steamer-service with New Orleans. Population, 8,222.
