First published in 1599, there are two known editions of this work dated that year. This transcription is of a facsimile of what is claimed to be the earlier of the two. However, more recent editions of the play conclude that this version is the second quarto (e.g. Henry Porter's The two angry women of Abington: a critical edition (1980) by Marianne Brish Evett).

Although when originally published it was called "The Pleasant History of the Two Angry Women of Abington", the title of the facsimile gives it as "The Two Angry Women of Abingdon".
