TO A. T. WICKOFF

New York, Nov. 2, 1875.

Yesterday I received your letter of Oct. 26th which was sent after me to this city. I sincerely thank you for the very kind things you say of my efforts to aid the cause of honest money in the Ohio election.

As to your request that I should indicate the amount of the personal expenses incurred by me, which you express your desire to remit, permit me to say that I prefer not to make any demands or accept any such compensation. I was glad to have an opportunity to do what I did do and feel amply compensated by the result.
