Edu.: Mungret College, S.J., Limerick, and N.U.I, B.A. (R.U.I.), 1901; Higher Diploma, Leinster College of Irish, 1911; double Diploma in Science, 1913; H.Dip. in Ed. (N.U.I.), 1914. Secondary teacher, Tralee, 1901-1903, and St. Vincent's College, Castleknock, 1906-1916, and 1917-1918. Member of Kerry Co. Board, G.A.A., 1904-6; Secretary Kerry Gaelic League, 1905; m. Anna Barton, Cloghobrien, 1908; member of Colste Gnotha G. L., 1910-1922 (with intervals). Assisted in founding I.V. gun running, Howth and Kilcool. Capt. C. Coy. I. Batn. Dublin Brigade; Trained I.V. in Co. Galway after deportation of Capt. Liam Mellows, 1915; Treasurer (and part time Chairman), Dublin City and County I.V, 1913-16. I.C., Four Courts, Easter Week, 1916; sentenced to 10 years' penal servitude; released at amnesty, 1917. Arrested for "German Plot," March, 1918; released, May, 1919. Evaded arrest, Jan. 1920, to Truce. Leas-Aire for Education July, 1920- Jan., 1922. Secretary to Commission on Secondary Education. Elected T.D for Sth. Galway, 1918, by a majority of 9,000; re-elected, 1920.
