Note: The grounds for promulgation of this Act are as follows: After the issuance of the Announcement of the Chief of the Council for Democratic Reform No 8 dated the 20th day of September 2549 Buddhist Era, Re: Prohibition of hoarding of goods, which, in essence, prohibits hoarding of goods or increase of prices of goods of every kind by anyone and designates a criminal punishment for violators thereof, the situations in general have now improved and the hoarding of goods or the pricing of goods or services can be regulated by the powers under the Act on Prices of Goods and Services, 2542 BE, making it appropriate to repeal the said Announcement in order to allow the conduct of businesses and the fixing of prices to be governed by the market mechanism and in order to bring about fairness to the economic sector. It is therefore necessary to enact this Act.
